It's a short summer in Alaska! Monday the 19th was our last day of work. Crowds are gone, temps are dropping, water hoses are starting to freeze and there's termination dust on the peaks (that means snow on the mountain tops!). Though there's business, there's not enough for a full staff.
Leaves and grasses are turning into their fall colors. This is a view of Mount Denali from the George Parks Highway, State Rt 3, mile marker 126.9.
The moose are gathering at their breeding grounds and the rut starts very soon. We'll come back in early September to get some more photos. We have a few weeks to play around before we have to get out. So I guess we'll go catch a late salmon run and watch the bears fish!
